Lessons To Take From 2015

December 23, 2015

As well as a time to focus on aspiration and future goals, the coming of a New Year is also a perfect opportunity to reflect on all of the lessons learnt in the previous 12 months. Although a little shaky to begin with, 2015 has taught me a lot of important lessons about myself, as well as the world around me.

Liebster Award

October 28, 2015

Recently, I was delighted to discover that both Mads from Yeah I'm Lost and Sarai from Stuck In Rewind had nominated me for a Liebster Award. For those of you who, like myself, are unfamiliar with this, the Liebster Award is an award that is passed between bloggers with fewer than 200 followers - it helps to build a community and allows those with potential to be recognised.

After researching into the award a little, I've found that there are a few different variations of the rules. The ones that I have chosen to follow are below:

1) credit the blogger(s) who nominated you
2) answer the questions they gave you
3) nominate five other bloggers to recieve the award
4) create a list of ten questions for your nominees to answer
5) notify your nominees

When did you start blogging? I began this blog on January 1st 2015, although I must have been blogging for almost two years before that.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would it be? Paris. It's by far the most beautiful city I've ever visited and the memories I have there are some of my happiest.

Do you prefer books or films? Do you have any that you would recommend? Although I've loved reading for as long as I can remember, it's been a long while since I read anything for pleasure and for that reason I'd have to say films. I recently watched (and loved) The Age of Adaline, starring Blake Lively.

Where do you most like to go when you want to eat out? The three restaurants I visit most regularly are Carluccios, Turtle Bay and CafĂ© Rouge, although which of those I prefer depends on my mood.

What was the last song you listened to? I've been playing music whilst writing this. Currently, I'm listening to Adele's new single, which I adore.

What was your dream job as a child? Did it change as you grew older? When I was really young I was convinced I was going to become a mermaid and then, when that didn't work out, I wanted to be a marine biologist. Nowadays however, I'm looking to do something involving Psychology, although I'm not quite sure what that is yet.

Who do you admire / look up to? Demi Lovato is someone that I've admired for a while now. Not only  is she extremely talented and incredibly strong, but she has also proved herself to be fearless in speaking out about some of the most prominent issues in society today. She continually amazes me.

What are you most afraid of? That I won't make the most of my life.

If you could witness any event from the past, present or future, what would it be? I would have loved to have seen Queen at Wembley in 1986, or possibly Guns n Roses at the Ritz in 1988.

What is your favourite season? Why? Autumn. I love the crisp October mornings, the colours of the leaves before they fall off the trees and cosy evenings indoors watching films or reading a good book.

My Nominees

Aimee -
Sara -
Steph -
Olivia -
Emily -

My Questions

1) What topic do you like to write about most? Why?
2) Do you have plans for halloween this year?
3) If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be and why?
4) Do you have any Netflix recommendations?
5) What's your greatest strength?
6) What's your greatest weakness?
7) If you could have a single wish come true, what would it be?
8) What's your favourite Disney film?
9) If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?
10) What three songs do you listen to when you want to feel happy?

As I said before, the aim of the Liebster Award is to promote newer blogs, so please be sure to take a look at the people I've nominated and give them a follow if you like their content.

See you soon!

A Month in Music | September

September 13, 2015

No matter how busy my life gets, there's always one thing I have time for - music. It's always been the easiest way for me to connect with people, as well as my biggest influence. There's nothing I like more than to discover something new to listen to, or to find someone who shares the same tastes as me.

This week, I thought I'd share some of my music favourites for September with you...

Not an Apology - Bea Miller
  • Favourites: Perfect Picture, We're Taking Over,  I Dare You
Believers Never Die - Fall Out Boy
  • Favourites: Dance Dance, Thnks fr th Mmrs, "The Take Over, The Breaks Over"
Badlands - Halsey
  • Favourites: New Americana, Colors, Roman Holiday
Honeymoon - Lana Del Rey
  • Favourites: Terrence Loves You, Salvatore, Music To Watch Boys To

House On a Hill - The Pretty Reckless

Fight Song - Rachel Platten
Confident - Demi Lovato
Ain't No Rest for the Wicked - Lennon & Maisy
You're a Germ - Wolf Alice

The playlist embedded above includes everything I've mentioned in this post (*apart from Not An Apology, which isn't available on UK spotify yet). If you listen to anything, let me know - I'd love to hear what you all think. Also, feel free to follow me on spotify if you want to keep updated with what I'm listening to on an everyday basis.

See you soon!

Inside Dismaland

I've always been a fan of modern art, and so when I was given the opportunity to visit Banksy's infamous Dismaland, I couldn't have been more excited. Throughout my day there I took more photos than I could count and, of course, I thought that I would share a few of my favourites with you.

The TMI Tag

April 11, 2015

  1. What are you wearing? A charcoal grey, sleeveless polo-neck from H&M and my mum's black leggings.
  2. Ever been in love? I don't think so.
  3. Ever had a terrible breakup? No.
  4. How tall are you? Last time I checked I was 5ft 3.7 inches. Hopefully I've got to 5ft 4 by now.
  5. How much do you weigh? No idea.
  6. Any tattoos? No.
  7. Any piercings? I have two lobe piercings in each ear, I never wear any earrings though.
  8. OTP? Dilmer all the way (hopefully someone reading this will know who I'm talking about!).
  9. Favourite Show? Probably Dance Moms (I have no shame). I also really like Pretty Little Liars, American Horror Story, Gossip Girl and Game of Thrones.
  10. Favourite bands? As of now, Paramore, Fall Out Boy and The Pretty Reckless are my favourite bands, but it changes too much to count. At some point I'll post an extensive list of all of the artists I listen to.
  11. Something you miss? Childhood innocence.
  12. Favourite song? This is too difficult to answer. Recently I rediscovered a lot of old favourites, and Believe In Me by Demi Lovato has definitely made an impact.
  13. How old are you? 16
  14. Zodiac sign? Gemini
  15. Quality you look for in a partner? Someone who can carry a conversation.
  16. Favourite Quote? For a long while it was 'Never be ashamed of what you feel, you have the right to feel any emotion that you want and do what makes you happy' - Demi Lovato. I'm not quite sure what it is now.
  17. Favourite actor? I don't really think I have one? I normally fall in love with the characters themselves, rather than the people playing them.
  18. Favourite color? Again, this is difficult. I have a sort of' 'aesthetic' I suppose (can you call it that?). I like black, white and grey, but also the bright turquoises and blues of the ocean. My tumblr account is probably the best representation of it.
  19. Loud music or soft? Loud, apart from when I'm wearing headphones.
  20. Where do you go when you’re sad? To bed.
  21. How long does it take you to shower? 10 minutes to half an hour. My mind wanders a lot so half the time I spend more time thinking than I do washing.
  22. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Anywhere up to an hour and a half. Again, it usually depends on how much of my time I spend daydreaming, or getting distracted.
  23. Ever been in a physical fight? Never. If I did I wouldn't stand a chance.
  24. Turn on? Thoughtfulness.
  25. Turn off? Prejudice.
  26. The reason I joined Blogger? I joined blogger as a creative outlet. For me, it's a way to make sense of my thoughts and feelings, as well as to express myself and share my opinions.
  27. Fears? Not knowing. Currently I have absolutely no idea what I want to do with the rest of my life and that absolutely terrifies me.
  28. Last thing that made you cry? A song.
  29. Last time you said you loved someone? A couple of hours ago to my parents.
  30. Meaning behind the name of your blog? I chose evanescxent because I liked the way the word sounds, and the meaning behind it. If something is 'evanescent' it soon passes out of sight, memory or existence. It is quick to fade or to disappear.
  31. Last book you read? Girl Online, by Zoella.
  32. The book you’re currently reading? Nothing right now, but I'm thinking about starting Looking For Alaska.
  33. Last show you watched? Dance Moms.
  34. Last person you talked to? My mum.
  35. The relationship between you and the person you last texted? My dad.
  36. Favourite food? Pizza. I also have an unhealthy obsession with green smoothies.
  37. Place you want to visit? Out of all the places I've been to, Paris is my favourite and I would go back there instantly if I could. In the future, I really want to experience New York and LA.
  38. Last place you were? As I'm writing this, I'm sitting on my bed at home. The last time I left the house was to go bowling with my friends on Friday night.
  39. Do you have a crush? Possibly?
  40. Last time you kissed someone? About an hour ago.
  41. Last time you were insulted? Thankfully I can't remember.
  42. Favourite flavour of sweet? Strawberry.
  43. What instruments do you play? The flute and the tiniest bit of piano.
  44. Favourite piece of jewellery? My grandmother's necklace has the most sentimental value, but I wear her gold ring and a bracelet from River Island much more often.
  45. Last sport you played? Dance, if it counts?
  46. Last song you sang? Without You // Lana Del Rey
  47. Favourite chat up line? Are you carbon monoxide? Because you take my breath away.
  48. Have you ever used it? Never in a million years.
  49. Last time you hung out with anyone? Friday evening.
  50. Who should answer these questions next? I'm going to leave this open. If you come across this post and decide to write one of your own, feel free to link it in the comments below.
I hope you didn't mind this slightly more personal post. As I've had my blog for a little while now, I figured that this would be a fairly easy way for you all to get to know a little more about me. I'd love to see some of you do the tag too.

Goals & Resolutions | 2015

January 3, 2015

This year is passing too quickly!

Already 2015 seems to be flying by and because of this I thought it was the right time to begin thinking about some of the things I'd like to achieve in the upcoming year. Like many people, I always find that the time surrounding New Year's Eve is full of such positive energy and possibility for change that my motivation levels always increase dramatically. Below you will find a (slightly optimistic) list of all of my goals and resolutions for the next twelve months:

  1. Look after myself
  2. Declutter
  3. Say what I mean
  4. Discover new music
  5. Go to as many concerts as possible
  6. Make more lists & be productive
  7. Be inquisitive
  8. Blog weekly
  9. Maintain a positive attitude
  10. Figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life & how I'm going to do it

And there you have it! Inevitably not everything on this list will be accomplished, but right now I'm so full of positivity that even the prospect of having something to work towards seems exciting.

Do you have any resolutions for the New Year?

New Beginnings

January 1, 2015

Hello again!

It was around this time last year that I sat, as I am now, and typed up a blogpost that I have no doubt was very similar to this one. Regrettably, after that first post, only two more followed and although I managed to gain 14 very loyal followers (who for some reason have chosen to stay with me for the whole of 2014), my blog never managed to become all that I hoped it would be.

This year I'm determined to change that.

During 2014, I feel as if I approached blogging in the wrong way; I would spend hours trying to come up with the 'perfect post' and this eventually led to a complete lack of motivation to write anything at all. I tried too hard and the results never truly reflected my personality or what I really wanted to say. This year, I'm going to try my absolute hardest to be true to who I am and write exactly the way I want to. I want my posts to be relaxed and natural, rather than like someone's English essay. I feel very optimistic about the future of this blog, and it would be lovely if maybe some of you do to. Hopefully this newfound mindset will lead to a frequent flow of posts in the upcoming year!

Thankyou to everyone who's taking the time to read this and if you're one of the 14 I mentioned to begin with, thankyou for sticking with me! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year.

See you soon!
